Purpose of Mercer County's Fair

The people of this Fair believe that a fair should have many purposes, some of the leading are:

• To disperse information by creating interest in friendly competition

• To improve practices and methods of farming

• To encourage better co-operation between individuals, groups, organizations, schools and communities

RULES & REGULATIONS

RULES & REGULATIONS

1. Ribbons only will be awarded for exhibits. No prize money will be awarded.

2. All exhibits with the exception of Department A-C and P must be exhibited between 3:00 pm and 7.-30 pm July 31, 2008 The fair. will accept no exhibits in Department 0-0 after 7.30 pm, Thursday, July 31, 2008.

3. Gates will open at 9:00 am each day and close at 12:00 midnight

4. All exhibits must be produced or made by persons living in Mercer County.

5. Articles that have been exhibited previously in Dept. F, G, H, I, K, L, M, N and O may not be reentered. Dept. G through 0 only one entry per class is allowed.

6 Exhibitors (Department D-O) will be responsible for their own exhibits and may remove them ONLY after 6:00 pm August 2,2008. All exhibits must be removed before 8:00 pm, August 2, 2008.

7. The judging committee will appoint Judges for the various exhibits. The Decision Of The Judges Will Be Final.

8. All entries shall be registered and labeled stating number of exhibitor, the department, Section and class according to Exhibit Catalog.

9. All livestock should be haltered and bulls should have rings in their noses. Mercer County 4-H Livestock rules must be followed. Male animals must be approved by July 31, 2008.

10. Dept. A-C, No animal may be entered in more than one class, except as noted.

11. Exhibits of hay must be about 1/4 standard bale taken from the middle of a bale of hay. No loose hay or uncured hay will be accepted.

12. A class with only one entry will be judged on quality.

13. Each grade in Mercer County elementary schools may exhibit entries for classes 1, 2 and 3. Department M, but only one entry per pupil may be exhibited in each class. Each entry shall be the child's own work.

14. All entries In classes, 1, 2 and 3 Department M are to have a small card on back bearing pupils full name, grade and school.

15. Each penmanship entry shall be mounted on construction paper.

16. Photography entries shall be mounted on mats.

17. All persons entering pets in Dept. P must provide their own leashes, cages, etc., and be responsible for care of pet. Enter and show Saturday, August 2, 2008.

18. All persons entering rabbits and poultry must provide their own cages and must feed and be responsible for their care.

19. No sick animal is to be exhibited. Animals may be turned away at the discretion of the department Superintendent.

20. Each superintendent and his aides shall give particular attention to the proper arrangement of the articles or animals exhibited in their departments, point out the articles or animals to the judges, and otherwise facilitate their examination. They shall also familiarize themselves with the Rules of the Fair.

21. All dogs on a leash at all times while on fairgrounds.
